Century Aluminum is a publicly traded company that produces primary aluminum. I chose this company due to two reasons; 1) One of the company's largest facilities is located in Hawesville, KY and 2) I have been following the company's stock movement a little in the past few months (and kicking myself for not buying stock in March when their stock reached a low of $1.04).
The company's stock has fluctuated quite a bit in the past 2 years due to recent price movements in aluminum prices. In May of 2008, the stock price rose to a high of $80.52, then less than 12 months later, dropped off to $1.04 as indicated above. Today, Monday August 31, 2009, their stock is regaining some strenth reaching a high of $12.18.
